Konjac Sponge Review

I saw this sponge a few weeks ago and I’ve been using it every other day. If you don’t know what a Konjac Sponge is let me share with you a few things.

Konjac Sponge ReviewKonjac sponge is made of natural materials. It is from the Konnyaku plant from Japan and Korea. The Konjac sponge is made of 100% vegetable fibers so the sponge is totally natural and could be made into compost so that makes them 100% biodegradable and recyclable. Konjac sponge is known to stimulate blood flow, gently exfoliate dead skin cells and leaves behind a colloid film to protect skin.

Konjac sponge is sold in online stores for about Php300 if I’m not mistaken. I really want to try it but then the price tag is too much for a sponge. I know it has benefits but then I don’t know anyone using it and if it would guarantee results. So, yeah one day I saw this in Landmark Trinoma (one of our beauty havens for cheap, quality makeup tools & products) for about Php59 and the other one is Php69 depending on the size.

Konjac Sponge Review

Konjac Sponge ReviewIt is hard when it is dry but when you soak it in water it will be unbelievably soft. The sponge I got is about a half inch thick. I really don’t need a thicker sponge since I’ll just use it on my face. The instruction says to soak the Konjac Sponge in warm water for 3-5 minutes and squeeze out excess water. Right after you could massage it on your face by itself or with your favorite facial wash.

Konjac Sponge Review

Konjac Sponge ReviewThe first time I used the Konjac Sponge I was so amazed by how soft it was. I like bouncing it on my cheeks since it is so soft and fluffy at the same time. I also felt really refreshed after! I guess this stimulates my blood circulation. The Konjac Sponge also claims to remove pore-clogging impurities, and that I am yet to find out but I guess because of the good blood circulation stimulated by massaging it gently on my face, it would help. I tried using this with my Celeteque Facial Wash and boy it foamed like crazy so the next time I used it I only used a very tiny amount.

Konjac Sponge ReviewSince this exfoliates the skin gently, this helps reveal new skin cells that are healthy. It does leave my skin clean, feeling extra fresh, plumped, and looking glowy.

One thing I’m always scared of when trying new products is breaking out. We never know if that thing will work or not for us. Some products even cause severe breakouts that you’ll have to deal with it for a couple of months. I’m happy the Konjac Sponge didn’t cause me breakouts or irritation.

What I Like About It

  • 100% biodegradable claim
  • Very soft and gently on the skin
  • Could be used alone or with a tiny bit of cleanser
  • Dries easily
  • Leaves my skin squeaky clean
  • No breakouts
  • Very cheap and affordable

What I Don’t Like About It

  • This will only last for about 3 months (not really a con since this is just like our toothbrush)

Final Thoughts

I absolutely adore the feeling of the Konjac Sponge on my skin. It helps me wake up my tired skin and my sleepy head. Since I can’t afford the Clarisonic Mia 2 yet and my derma says that the price tag is not worth it I guess I’ll stick with this sponge in cleaning my face. If Clarisonic Mia is way beyond your budget try this one! It is always out of stock in Landmark so better grab one!
